It's suppose to be a self portrait of me but it's slightly distorted. I was up late working on this gem that one me Best in Drawing category. I started out with a canvas board with a 1 1/2 inch brush just started making an orange undertone for the sketch. I got a full body mirror (which later on flipped over and collapsed) and started examining my face and sketching out all the details for about 3 hours, most of which was just spent looking at my face. I tried adding some chalk for highlights but every time I would spray the fixative at the recommended distance the chalk would fly off. Which leads me to the assumption now that charcoal is heavier than chalk. XD
After about 30 minutes of re-chalking and re-fixating I said to hell with it and got some white paint and the trusty size 2 round and sketched the highlight back on. It's a little brighter than I wanted at some points, but at least it stayed on this time when I sprayed the fix. XD
All in all I think I could have done better if I wasn't so tired staying up at 4 in the morning to get this done. but it seemed to impress the crowd so I wasn't too worried after that. I submitted it to the Student Art Show later on and achieved Best in Drawing.
