Artist's Comments

I did this about a year ago during one of my other Digital Art classes. I think it was Design and Illustration on Computers using Illustrator. Well... this one is done in photoshop. I basically spent about an hour and thirty minutes on is using only the mouse. I forget what exactly inspired me but i always loved the desert anyways because of the nice color contrasts with the complement colors Orange and Blue.

It's another beautiful day here in the sandbox with temperatures topping off in the 140's. Clouds that were forming earlier in the day are now dissipating as it is now too warm for them to keep their wispy nature. There seems to be a stand still in the 22nd Forly region where a man is having trouble restarting his camel. Are those a flock of Irulian Buzzard-Hawks? This doesn't look good folks. We'll keep you updated on the situation through out the day here on Tau Prime. Oh and later expect to see our neighboring planet in full this evening and now back to your normal radio programming.

Yep, I used to do these types of things all the time on oekaki board back in the day some years ago. The easy part is usually the desert when you aren't making more than dunes and maybe a few rocks. The hard part is when you draw the sky and the clouds free style with a normal airbrush. Since it was photoshop I had better control over what I was doing opposed to the limitations of some oekaki programs years ago. The mouse I was using at the time before they finally upgraded the art labs were normal ball mice which always got dirty and were old enough to start making registry errors as the ball glided across the sensors even when clean. But luckily my workstation didn't have such bad luck with mice, so 1hour and 30 minutes is a pretty decent time frame when you know what you wanted to draw on an old 800mhz pentium in the school labs. Otherwise, I might have been in there for hours experimenting with certain visualizing techniques like i usually want to do.
